Contrary to what opponents of infrared often claim, infrared heating is perfectly suitable as a main heating system. The following points should be taken into account:
1. The importance of insulation
The objects in your room that absorb heat also emit it. With poor insulation a lot of heat is lost, with good insulation you can even save on your electricity bill. In the calculator you can calculate exactly how much you can save.
2. The size of the room
Depending on the size of the room, you need one or more devices. One radiant heater can heat a space of up to 30 m², especially if this space is well insulated. If you choose panels, the same space often requires two panels.
3. The desired temperature
The type of infrared heater you choose also depends, of course, on the desired temperature. Radiant heaters are suitable for rooms where it needs to heat up quickly. Panels are used in situations where the temperature is constant but not too hot.
For different rooms in the house, the ISSO gives the following values:
Living room | 20°C |
Bedroom | 20°C |
Kitchen | 20°C |
Bathroom | 22°C |
Hallway | 15°C |
Toilet | 15°C |
Attic (storage) | 15°C |
Attic (living space) | 20°C |
