Infrared heating is easy to install yourself. Some devices, such as the ThermoUp Floor, need to be plugged in; other devices can easily be mounted on the wall or ceiling using the supplied manual.
Installing infrared heating in 4 steps
1. Decide where you want to install the infrared heater
In a new house or after renovation, it is best to provide electricity where the heating is to come. The best option to save space for the installation is the ceiling, but a wall is also an option. Always turn off the electricity when you are going to install a device.
2. Mount the infrared heater on the wall or ceiling
Indicate the drill holes for the mounting brackets on the wall or ceiling. Always make sure that the holes are parallel to the walls so that your infrared heater hangs straight. Panels on the wall should always be at least 20 cm from the floor.
Drill the holes using a screwdriver. First, mount the plugs and then the screws. Make sure that the screws stick out about one centimetre.
With a plaster ceiling, it is best to use staggered plugs to anchor the panels. Other surfaces are usually sturdy enough for standard installation.
3. Connect the infrared unit to the socket
Follow the manual carefully for the connection to the electrical circuit. You may need some tools such as a dismantling knife and strippers. When you have followed all the instructions correctly, you can start attaching the device.
Work with two people – this is usually easier. One person holds the device while the other connects the infrared device.
4. Install the thermostat
If your appliance comes with a thermostat, it is best to install it on an inside wall. An outside wall is always colder because of the contact with the outside air. Using the wireless thermostat, you can easily set when and at what temperatures you want to use the devices.
Doesn’t the back of the infrared heater get too hot?
No, infrared heaters always have insulation at the back. In this way, the radiation concentrates at the front of the appliance. The units mount on brackets, which makes it possible to get rid of the heat.
